What is Automatix 2?

Automatix (Automated GUI installation script) is made a dash for Ubuntu / Kubuntu / Xubuntu, which installs among many graphics applications, networking, audio, programming and more. The installation and operation of this script is extremely simple and one need only install a package. Deb and run the binary installed.

Installing Automatix for Debian 4.0 (Etch i386)

Before installing Automatix2, make sure you have enabled directories and contrib non-free in your Debian primary repository in / etc / apt / sources.list. Automatix2 depends on a couple of packages available just in these directories. The main repositiorio Debian should be as follows;

  deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free 

Now download the package from Automatix2 to etch getautomatix, and installed it by typing;

  deathbian: ~ # dpkg-i automatix2_1.1-4.3-4.0r0etch_i386.deb 

Post-installation

After installing Automatix2, you can find in the Applications menu -> System Tools in Ubuntu or Main Menu -> System for Kubuntu / MEPIS / Xubuntu.

Likewise, Automatix2 can be run from the terminal, running the command;

  deathbian: ~ # automatix2 

To remove Automatix2 system, type in Ubuntu;

  ubuntu: ~ # sudo apt-get remove automatix2 

Debian;

  deathbian: ~ # apt-get remove automatix2
