As we all know Google has officially launched its new Internet browser, called Chrome. In conjunction with this release, Google has also unveiled Chromium, an open source project which allows developers to the study, modify, extend and redistribute the source code browser Chrome.

Google has made public the sources of Chrome under a BSD license, and therefore will be offered under open and proprietary software. Instructions for the compilation are available for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. The port to Linux even at this early stage of development and still is not fully functional.

Likewise, the source code of JavaScript V8 engine, high-performance Chrome is also open and available for download. The V8 engine is highly modular, it is adaptable to other browsers and can theoretically be used in other contexts.
